Senior System Administrator (Technical Lead)

Description

We are looking for a Senior System Administrator (Technical Lead) to join our team!  The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge and skills to lead various IT projects and services, involving hardware/software infrastructure for our head office, branch locations, and data centres.

What you’ll get to do:
  • Conceptualize, plan and implement network design, server virtualization / migration, capacity planning and disaster recovery
  • Lead various IT projects such as:
    • Maintenance and expansion of our Vsphere environment
    • Firewall replacement/upgrades
    • Office 365 setup
    • Local network integration with Azure infrastructure
    • Upgrades to storage at our corporate office and data centres
    • Migration of Exchange 2010 🡪 Exchange 2019
  • Work with DevOps team to provide highly available hardware and network infrastructure for our enterprise applications running on Windows and Linux
  • Provide hardware and networking support for our Web Application’s 100% uptime SLA
  • Administration and support of various applications running on Microsoft Windows Server platform, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Active Directory 
  • Setup and administration of system security, including system access, firewall/VPN configuration, antivirus management, security patch management, and backup management 
  • Keep abreast on the latest technology and prototype infrastructure and security initiatives 
  • Implementation of software upgrades; including firmware revisions, operating systems, and other enhancements as required 
  • Monitoring to detect performance degradation and mitigate the risk of system failures 
  • Perform root cause analysis on service outage or performance degradation to determine a sustainable fix 
  • Ensure documentation of policies and procedures for ensuring security and integrity of all systems
  • Oversee IT support of our head office, company job sites and branch offices 
Who you are:
  • Degree or College diploma in Information Technologies or MCSE or equivalent experience
  • 5+ Years of Systems Administration experience 
  • Thorough understanding and administrator experience on VMware vSphere environments 
  • Proficiency and experience on Firewall administration 
  • Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 SaaS environment 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at the same time
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with users at various levels in the organization 
  • Local Area and Wide Area Networking experience with respect to Internet and inter-site communications including data centre architecture, high availability, VPN, SMTP 
  • Practical experience installing/maintaining Windows 2012/2016, DNS, Active Directory, Windows 10
  • Willingness to provide on-call support on a rotational basis. Work during maintenance windows (Saturday and Thursday 1am - 5am) when requested 
  • Attention to detail and consistency are key qualities for this position
