Senior Android Developer

Description

We are seeking a Senior Android Developer to join our highly skilled Development Group, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Angus AnyWhere® family of products, helping the company maintain its industry leader status. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Product, Development and QA Groups in developing software solutions of the highest quality for the commercial real estate market, utilizing the latest software technologies. This position reports to the Development Manager. 

Responsibilities
  • Acquire a general understanding of the Angus AnyWhere family of products.
  • Acquire a strong understanding of the languages, frameworks, libraries, databases, services and tools utilized by the Angus AnyWhere system.
  • Learn and adhere to internally established SDLC practices.
  • Work on each assigned project in close collaboration with the assigned project team; includes members from the Product, Architecture, Development, Database and QA Groups.
  • Design before implementing code; create prototypes, draw diagrams, analyze existing code, consult peers, research external sources.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, standards compliance, re-usability and ease of maintenance
  • Communicate status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met
  • Keep current with emerging technologies relating to software development.
Requirements
  • University or college diploma in computer science, electrical/computer engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with Java and Android SDK
  • Experience working with 3rd party data sources and APIs
  • RESTful web service integration experience
  • Experience developing multithreaded, networking, and database applications
  • Experience with Unit Testing
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into effective and intuitive mobile apps
  • Must be able to demonstrate published apps from Google Play or other app stores that they have written, including for both phone and tablet apps
  • Excellent communication and creative problem solving skills
  • A passion to deliver great software with an ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Comfortable working on large scale, multi-component apps
  • Must enjoy working in a fast paced and collaborative environment
Nice to Have
  • Kotlin, NDK, RxJava, Realm
  • Knowledge of Google Architecture Components
  • NET/C#, Xamarin
  • Experience/knowledge of mobile architectures (MVP, MVVM, VIPER/Clean architecture, etc)
  • Experience with syncing in mobile apps
